An independent imprint, rooted in one place
GeoParallax publishes photographic and narrative books about the South African landscape — made slowly, on the ground, by people who know it first-hand.
Made on the ground
Behind GeoParallax
GeoParallax is an independent South African imprint founded by author and photographer Arnold Petersen. It exists to make books that treat a place seriously — pairing photography with the history, detail, and first-hand knowledge that most books leave out. Our first title, Edge of the Continent: The Western Cape, is the result of ten years spent returning to a single province until it gave up more than its surface.

Ten years in the making
52,000 photographs, distilled to the 300 that became this book — because a place this big doesn't fit in a memory, and barely fits in a book. This is the closest you'll get to holding it.
